the simple things in life

ever wondered what makes each and every one of us happy in life? is it money? fame? some are probably happy with money, but i guess i realized that money doesn’t have to be in the same sentence as happiness. the simpler things in life make us the most happiest, according to our rules. everyone is different in their own sense, that is why we embrace our individuality and uniqueness so happiness for everyone is going to be different. money would be nice, but if you take away the little green pieces of paper, we see family, friends supporting us in whatever we do. we see the passion thats driving us forward in hard times. we see the cup of coffee (or tea!) sitting on the kitchen counter waiting to work its magic on the tired minds in our body. grabbing a pen and paper, writing down the thoughts going through the mind and translating them into lyrics, diary entries and much more. brush aside the golden coins and something as simple as the memorabilia left behind from generations past will put a smile on our faces. a nice gesture by a total stranger could brighten anyones day. a simple message from someone close to our hearts could create laughter that never ends. even in hard times, the sadness, depression, anger…it all goes away when we think back to our friends and family, bringing happiness along with it. i guess what i’m trying to say is that money shouldn’t be everything in your life. it is a part of it and always will be, but the simpler things in life is what brings out the true happiness in everyone.

The Blind Side

wow! was this movie goood. the blind side pleasantly surprised me. normally i wouldn't watch football related movies but because of curiosity that it was nominated for oscars, i decided to watch it. first, i watched the trailer and saw the amazing story line come to life. michael oher, a football player that i have never even heard of (sorry football fans) and this lady who's white...calling michael her son? personally i love the relationships between different colours of people. they intrigue me and i really cherish the fact that people (including me!) are willing to accept anybody for who they are, regardless of their skin colour. so when i saw the trailer and saw that this was about a multicultural aspect, i was hooked. i started off watching, thinking nothing of it. then the story really began, with 'big mike' opening up to leigh anne and how leigh anne is opening her home and heart to him. that unconditional love i see in her eyes, i'm so envy of! i really wish i could do that, without any judgement from my family and friends. i'm glad to see her fighting for what she believes in and loving michael the same way she loves her own biological children. it really brings to my attention that there is a lot of racism going on in the world and it is absolutely unacceptable. as i always say, every human has a mouth, ears, a nose, and eyes...no difference at all besides the surface skin colour. but we are the same inside, we don't change. it was really nice to see leigh anne and all her kids, especially the CUTE SJ, accept michael to be their big brother. when i got to the part where michael protecting SJ from the airbag, i was drained in tears! i cried so much because something so big and intimidating, actually really just has a soft heart. the way he protects his family and the way he fights for them is very very intriguing. the humour in the movie was nice as well because it kept the mood up. i think they cast the characters really well, i love sandra bullock and her subtle-ness in humour. also quinton aaron as michael oher was incredible. watching him grow, watching him speak his mind toward the end and call leigh anne as 'mama' just made my heart melt. this movie was a very heart warming movie and i would definitely watch it over and over again (with a huge tub of popcorn and a box of tissues just in case =D) would recommend this movie to anyone who has a generous heart and would love to be 'awed' by michael oher's incredible story. so maybe now, i should pay more attention to football? nahh not enough to take over HOCKEY that's for sure.
